Morrish Vs Green - The Might of the Sea Vs half Clad Celts

Well, this is a little awkward. Still no content from me but Mat's put together a battle report using the Universal Battle online application. It's a great way to learn new things, play lists that you've dreamt up and generally make your mistakes. It'll never replace pushing toy soldiers about and rolling dice but it's sometimes a more convenient thing. As luck would have it there are a couple of "how to" guides for UB here: from Matt at Hobby Sauce : HERE and a link on how to play by email from Steve at Death By dragons: HERE Pitting Mat's Berzerker heavy, historicals themed list against Elliot's Wave of Elemental fuelled Trident Realm. they're playing a 1495 point game of Kings of War 3ed ed and the scenario is invade Lists Mat's gone heavy on attacks and low defence with plenty of supporting fast cav chaff. Elliot's put a whole heap of eggs into a surge based list with a Kraken for staying power.     W...

Kings of Herts Fundraiser!

Another trip North of the river to the South East Gaming hotspot that is Aycliffe Drive Primary School. Well into their stride now at hosting events Paul and Mat had managed to gather their biggest crowd yet for the charity doubles fund raiser. Same drill as before, 1000pts per player and one inspiring character can be shared and become very inspiring. No allies and only one artefact of each type per army.  A change from the norm I took my ogres as I had 1000pts just about painted up and dabbled with a few lists including taking Grok but in the end figured three big blocks of Ogres and a couple of characters to do the smashing would be best. I took: Grokagomaok Finest Braves A horde of Boomers with headstrong A horde of warriors A boomer Sergeant Nomagorak A Biggit on a fleabag with the blade of slashing  These were supported by my double's partner bringing: A horde of archers with piercing,  A BSB A dragon Lord A Horde of drakons A Dragon Breath I...

Jack of Herts III

Pre-(R)amble Ashamedly the first post in a while and it's a Tournament report rather than a hobby update. I've been painting and hobbying a fair amount but just not got round to write them all down. So it's back with Paul and Mat running a casual doubles tournament but this time at the Darksphere Shop in West London(ish) at Mantic Franticon 2019.  An impressive 18 teams were taking part from several countries including a large Spanish Armada. Some usual suspects were present but this one was different as I was bringing my brother with me for his foray into toy soldiers since we were kids. We'd had a quick 1000pt battle where I worked him through the mechanics and I bought him a rule book. I gave him some pointers and left him write a list cobbled together out of the 20+year old monopose plastic elves and some recent things like a Forest Dragon I had been painting.  The lists! I decided to try and take the least amount of stuff I could and the stuff I felt...

Jack of Herts 2

Fresh back from the Jack of Herts 2 here’s my account of events... The usual chaos ensued with snow hitting the South East of England on the couple of days before JoH2 leading to Mat and Paul fearful if anyone would actually make the event. In the end it was smooth sailing for all with only a little bit of crunchy snow underfoot on the untreated road approaching the venue. As usual when we got in and warmed up there was the usual amazing array of scenery on 7 6x4 tables but this was added to by some amazing 3x3 vanguard tables. The effort that had been gone to was amazing. Pleasantries were exchanged and free cups of tea sourced. How very British. Game 1 Invade The pairings were announced and although there had been the chance to issue challenges i don’t think anyone took them up so the random draw lead me to be facing Rusty Shackleford’s dwarven horde. It was big blocks of infantry with some scouting rangers, two bombards and a Craggoth. First off, as always the painti...
